For my undergraduate degree, I completed a 3-year data science degree with a major in quantitative data science. The degree covered a wide range of disciplines, from computer science, economics, mathematics and statistics.

But what you don’t do, you eventually forget.

Through multiple jobs, I had to re-learn a lot of things from uni. And in that process, I discovered some great online resources that cover almost everything I learned in my degree, for free.

In this article, I will break down everything I learned from my data science degree, and where you can too.

This will be most useful for anyone trying to break into a data role, and looking to pick up a few new tricks for the job.

While I found the degree valuable, the financial and time commitment required for a traditional undergraduate degree isn’t for everyone. I’m not arguing that uni degrees aren’t worth it. But my goal is to help more people reach the basic competencies in the data science discipline without barriers.

Overview of my degree

The degree I completed is Data Science & Decisions from the University of New South Wales. You can read more about the degree from…
